As a nod to the great Chicago author Nelson Algren this blog is an attempt to consolidate in one locale the banality and outrageousness of corruption in the great city of Chicago. Many a neighbor has suffered harm and indignity at the hands of this corruption. Chicago is perhaps the last city in the nation to still have a vital if not festering political machine. It happens this machine is part of the Democratic Party. Make no mistake corruption is not unique to Democrats.

I'll leave it to you, Chicago neighbor, and other readers to reflect on and appreciate the parallels between Disney World and Daley World.
Here's the history on Walt's Magic Kingdom, as told in the March issue of National Geographic:
Disney's new empire in Central Florida would be marketed as Disney World. Its official name was, and remains, the Reedy Creek Improvement District. Thanks to a sweetheart deal with the state legislature, the lands Disney purchased were detached from the rest of Florida to form a Magic Kingdom, above and outside the law. Even now, Disney World's rides are exempt from state safety inspections. Democratic process is excluded, too. Power remains in the hands of a board of supervisors comprised of Disney allies. However much you pay for a time-share condo in Disney World, you cannot buy property outright, and therefore establish official residence, and therefore vote for the board. Celebration, Disney's residential community themed to evoke pre-1940s small-town America, has a city hall but no actual municipal government.
